Our Parochial Vicar
Fr. Francis Xavier Kayondo
WHO IS FR. FRANCIS XAVIER KAYONDO
Fr. Francis Xavier Kayondo was born in a very humble background; in a grass-thatched house, raised in Kabarole District Fort Portal a tourism city in Western Uganda East Africa. He is the third born of the 14 children. In their family are two sets of twins. He lost a mum at ten years of age and a dad when in high school. His last name KAYONDO is equivalent to the western name ATHANASIUS meaning one who has overcome death “eternal life” because he was born with the umbilical cord around his neck. Fr. Francis loved his mother so much that even at the hour of her death he was on her deathbed and saw his mom dying. He dropped out of school and became a babysitter of his youngest brother who was left at one and half months old. He grew up grazing goats and on holidays would go to the grandpa for grazing cows but in primary five life became very hard in the village, so he escaped to the city and stayed in an military barracks where he would sell milk and sugarcane to the soldiers. He joined their school up to primary seven. During secondary school vacations he worked in a school for religious sisters tending to their cows and taking care of the school compound to raise tuition and when he joined high school, father used to work in the seminary gardens and cut the football pitch for the same. He now holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy with Education Makerere University Uganda East Africa and Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Urban University Rome. He was ordained a Deacon August 2012 and a Priest on August 17th 2013.
In June 2024, Father Francis was assigned to our parish. He is happy that by God’s grace he is here to serve God at StMM.
