The EDGE Program
We want our middle school youth to grow in their Catholic faith. Through the EDGE program, we encourage our teens to fall in love with the person and the message of Jesus Christ, and mature in faith by letting that love form and transform them within the church, a community of disciples. At St. Mary Magdalene, we see adolescent catechesis as one stage of a lifelong process of embracing the Catholic way of life that forms young disciples by empowering them to know and follow Christ in their daily lives.
What is the EDGE?
The EDGE is a dynamic youth faith formation program open to teens in middle school, grades 6-8. The EDGE curriculum—led by adult CORE team leaders—uses different forms of media and instruction to teach teens the importance of their Catholic faith during their middle school years. The program schedule rotates through catechetical topics, service projects, social nights, and social justice issues all taught in large and small group environments.
We host a weekend retreat each fall for the EDGE youth which offers them an opportunity to have a structured weekend away to pray and grow deeper in their faith.
The program is called 'The EDGE' because the youth in this age range are on the 'edge' in terms of their mental, physical, and emotional development.
